Handmade. Local. Old school. The art and ephemera at Zygote Press’s annual Off The Wall Holiday Show has all that appeal and more.
Off The Wall is where Northeast Ohio printmakers and other artists annually sell holiday gifts to hang on your wall, as well as a multitude of items that seem to spill spontaneously from the minds and hands of printmakers—from greeting cards to handmade books, to scratch pads, and other items.
This year’s sale features works by some of the areas best artists, which include, Denise Stewart, Pam McKee, Amy Casey, Bruce Edwards, Kristina Paabus, Elizabeth Emery, Liz Maugans, Anna Tararova, Jen Craun and Lisa Schonberg and many more.
Screenprinting 101 with Hannah Manocchio
September 20 & 27, 6-9pm
$125 includes a free open studio pass.
$106.25 member price
Screenprinting 101 will give you the basic steps on how to transfer your designs to posters or apparel. The class includes the use of Zygote screens, materials, and equipment plus a free pass to come back and work during one of our open studio sessions (a $20 value).
Screenprinting is an art form known for its bold graphics and quick-print ability to do large runs. A close cousin of stenciling, screenprinting is easy to learn, and a little harder to master. This class will get you started learning how to print on paper and fabric, gradually increasing in complexity and nuance. With the ongoing support of a pro to help trouble-shoot along the way, students will be familiar with dark room exposure, mesh count, screen tension, ink consistency, and registration. Students will be able to develop their imagery, be it hand-drawn illustration or digital files, to work best as a print. By the end of the class, students will know their way around the print shop, and be well equipped to continue printing independently at Zygote Press.
Join artists, educators, administrators, and the eco-conscious at Zygote’s 1st Green Growth Symposium.
