Screenprinting 101 will give you the basic steps on how to transfer your designs to posters or apparel. The class includes the use of Zygote screens, materials, and equipment plus a free pass to come back and work during one of our open studio sessions (a $20 value).
Screenprinting is an art form known for its bold graphics and quick-print ability to do large runs. A close cousin of stenciling, screenprinting is easy to learn, and a little harder to master. This class will get you started learning how to print on paper and fabric, gradually increasing in complexity and nuance. With the ongoing support of a pro to help trouble-shoot along the way, students will be familiar with dark room exposure, mesh count, screen tension, ink consistency, and registration. Students will be able to develop their imagery, be it hand-drawn illustration or digital files, to work best as a print. By the end of the class, students will know their way around the print shop, and be well equipped to continue printing independently at Zygote Press.
Join artists, educators, administrators, and the eco-conscious at Zygote’s 1st Green Growth Symposium.
