Open Call Winter / Summer Residency

Zygote accepts applications for two 14-day residencies per year, one in summer and one in winter. Qualified artist residents should be established printmakers in the U.S. or abroad with the aim to work on a special project in Zygote’s Northeast Ohio facilities.

These residencies include free housing in the Zygote Press Artist Share Space (ZPASS) loft apartment — a live-work accommodation above the E. 30th St. studio — as well as a stipend and full access to the shop for two weeks. In exchange, residents give a lecture or demonstration and donate one work created at Zygote to the archive. Additional Zygote funding is not available for travel costs. The precise 2-week time slot of the Summer and Winter Residencies will be agreed upon by Zygote Residency Director and the selected artist based on availability of ZPASS. Normally, these residencies occur in August and January.

The next deadline for Zygote’s open call residency is: June 15, 2018 for 2019 residencies. Applicants should allow four to six weeks for Zygote to review applications after the yearly deadline.  A separate independent jury makes final selection and artists can expect immediate notification if accepted. If you have any questions regarding the residency program or application, please contact yana (at) Zygotepress.org.
